How to Find Your Ring Size at Home (With Size Chart)

One of the most common questions we get at Tungsten Fashions is "how do I know my ring size?" It's an important one, because unlike gold or silver rings, tungsten rings can't be resized. Getting the right size the first time matters.

The good news is that finding your ring size at home is easy, free and takes less than five minutes. Here are four reliable methods you can use right now.

Why getting your size right matters for tungsten

Because tungsten carbide is one of the hardest materials used in jewelry, it can't be reshaped or resized the way gold or silver can. If your ring doesn't fit, you'll need to exchange it for a different size. We make exchanges easy, but getting it right the first time saves you time and hassle.

Method 1: The string or paper method

This is the most popular at-home method, and it works surprisingly well.

What you need: a thin strip of paper or a piece of string, a pen and a ruler.

1. Wrap the paper or string around the base of the finger you'll wear the ring on.
2. Mark the point where it overlaps.
3. Lay it flat against a ruler and measure the length in millimeters. That's your finger's circumference.
4. Find the closest circumference in the chart below.

Make sure it's snug but not tight, and that it would still slide over your knuckle.

Method 2: Measure a ring that already fits

If you already own a ring that fits well on the same finger, this is the easiest and most accurate method.

1. Place the ring on a flat surface.
2. Measure the inside diameter in millimeters: the distance straight across the inside of the ring, edge to edge.
3. Find the closest diameter in the chart below.

Method 3: Use a printable ring sizer

A printable ring sizer is a paper strip you cut out and wrap around your finger. Make sure your printer is set to 100% scale, not "fit to page," or the measurements will be off. Method 4: Visit a local jeweler

If you want to be absolutely certain, stop into any local jewelry store and ask them to size your finger. It's usually free and takes about 30 seconds. You don't have to buy anything there; just get your size and come back to us for the ring.

Tips for accurate ring sizing

• Measure at the end of the day. Fingers are slightly larger in the evening, so you'll get a better fit for everyday wear.
• Temperature matters. Fingers shrink in the cold and swell in the heat. Measure at room temperature.
• Wide bands can feel snugger. A ring 8mm or wider covers more of your finger, so it can feel tighter than a thin band of the same size. If you're between sizes and ordering a wide band, the larger size is usually more comfortable.
• Between sizes? Go larger. A slightly loose ring is much easier to live with than one that won't go past your knuckle.
• Measure the right hand. Your dominant hand is often slightly larger, so measure the hand you'll actually wear the ring on.
